Almost mid-summer and the days are fierce but the nights are warm and sweet.
Nothing more life-enhancing than running in the mountains in the cool of a summer evening, backed by a late sunset and the rising of a full-moon-to-be.
Although actual full moon is a day later, on Monday June 20, the magic lunar show will entrance us as we track our way up to the top of Stavrovouni, down some firebreaks, and across the universe on goat tracks and jeep tracks.
This is a group run, inspired by and led by ace trail runner Major Katalin, aimed at celebrating the sense of mid-summer wonder. Leave your GPS watches behind; take off your heart monitors. For once run free, happy and wild.
Join us for an exhilarating evening’s running in the mountains. Distance is about 10km. Time is … well, who cares. We just want to run to celebrate the fact that we can run. That we can still see the sun set and the moon rise in an atmosphere not smothered by suffocating smog. That the trails on this island are still pristine and enchanting.
Yes there are some steep ups, some precipitous downs, some rugged in-betweens. But isn’t that what mountain running is all about?
